Timaris, a proud graduate of Gallup High School, is a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who has spent over 34 years building a strong family foundation alongside her high school sweetheart. Together, they’ve raised children, welcomed four grandchildren, and even embraced four 'grand fur babies' into their lives.

As a property owner, business owner, and an active member of Gallup, Timaris has demonstrated remarkable community engagement and has worked tirelessly to create a brighter future for the people of this region. She has raised tens of thousands of dollars to support local children, our first responders, and the broader community. By building vital bridges between these groups, she has brought moments of joy and relief to those in need, whether through food assistance or providing support during tough times.

In addition to her service to the community, Timaris and her husband have successfully grown their family business over the past eight years. She has shown exceptional local leadership through her roles as president of the Gallup Rotary Club, The Community Pantry, and Toastmasters, where her forward-thinking, hands-on approach led to significant growth in both organizations.

Timaris is not just a leader who talks about change; she takes action. Her dedication to service, deep roots in Gallup, and proven track record make her the kind of leader we need as we look towards the future. What education do you have for being a mayor?

Timaris is a motivated and results-driven professional with a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communication and a minor in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of New Mexico. She has a strong foundation in strategic communication, team collaboration, and business operations, with the ability to bridge communication gaps between departments and drive organizational goals. Timaris is also skilled in marketing principles, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement, with a passion for aligning communication strategies with business objectives.

What experience do you have for being a mayor?

Timaris learned her leadership skills from non-profits, as she was the executive director for a non-profit. She learned to collaborate with resources and learned to deal with legislators to receive funding. She has also been past president of several non-profits like Gallup Rotary Club and Gallup Community Pantry. She has over 20 years of advocating for our youth. She has used sports as the vehicle to reach many youth by providing a safe space while teaching life skills. She learned the art of motivating, listening, accountability, problem solving and constructive feedback.
Timaris' ability to fill the gaps in our community, is one of her biggest strengths. When she saw a need to bridge our first responders and our youth. She stepped in and fundraise over $100,000 for events like Shop with our Heroes and Secret Santa Food Boxes. Timaris has been invested in Gallup for many years.

Why do you want to be mayor?

Timaris is deeply committed to investing in our youth for the past 20 years. She understands that empowering the next generation is essential to breaking the cycle of many social challenges facing our community. She is passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces where young people can develop life skills, connect with mentors, and grow into confident leaders. Her track record is a testament to her ability to identify problems and provide solutions. A dedicated advocate for our first responders and vulnerable populations, Timaris is committed to building strong partnerships between outreach organizations, nonprofits, local agencies, and the city to address homelessness with compassion and accountability. She believes that a balanced approach is essential—one that protects the well-being of both our unsheltered neighbors and our broader community. As a business owner, Timaris knows firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with growing a local economy. She is determined to bridge the gap between City Hall, businesses, community organizations, and residents. Her approach centers on transparency, collaboration, and inclusive decision-making. She also recognizes that before we can attract new businesses, we must attend to the basics. Ensuring a functioning hospital, maintaining the community's beauty, and streamlining the business application process to make it easier for entrepreneurs to invest in our city. The real answer for Timaris’ need to run for mayor is in the face of her four grandchildren. She believes that she needs to positively change Gallup for them.
